Medical Work- Free clinic consultations

One of the most difficult parts about being in Mexico is trying to understand the differences in culture between the people in Maclovio and myself.

Working in the clinic I get to observe the way that families interact with each other. The children play together in the dusty streets and fear does not seem to be a part of their lives. They sit for hours on end in a hot dusty room, waiting to be seen, with complete patience. They express nothing but gratitude for what we can offer.

Their love and respect for each other is remarkable, especially their sense of dedication and consideration for their family. And yet, when I hear the people talk about all that they have been through I see fright and embarrassment in their eyes.

I think of how material possessions, opportunity, and resources are abundant in my world. I think of everything that comes easily to me, and I realize how much I have to grow.
